Lauren Chatnik, a sophomore on the Fairfield University women's lacrosse team was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Lacrosse League Defensive Player of the Week. The Stags have won Defensive Player of the Week honors three times now this season, with the award being Chatnik's second of the campaign.

The Stags netminder made 27 saves in two games, finishing with a save percentage of 52 percent in the two games. She saved her best action for the Stags MAAC Lacrosse League season opener on Sunday against Marist. In a game that the Stags won 15-14, Chatnik equaled a career-high with 17 saves. She had 17 saves in the MAAC Tournament semifinal against Canisius at the end of her rookie season.

Against Lehigh on Tuesday Chatnik had recorded 10 saves. Her goals-against average for the week was 12.50, as she put Fairfield as the early leader in the race for the four-team MAAC Tournament.

The Stags play twice in the coming week, both against MAAC foes. Fairfield, 4-5 overall and 1-0 in the league, plays at Iona on Friday at 3 p.m., before returning home on Sunday, April 1, for a contest with Manhattan.
