The Fairfield University women's lacrosse team had seven student-athletes named to the 2006 MAAC All-Academic Team, announced by the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) in conjunction with the conference championship.
Stags senior captain Katie Voight (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) was named to the MAAC All-Academic team for the third time. She is a finance major.
Juniors Dana Frey (Califon, N.J.), Kate MacLeman (Orange, Conn.) and Sarah Masterson (Sea Girt, N.J.) each earned All-MAAC Academic team accolades for the second time this year. All attacks for the Stags, Frey is a psychology major, while MacLeman and Masterson are both majoring in English.
Sophomores Kristin Genovese (Huntington, N.Y.) Caroline Madrak (Berwyn, N.Y.) and Jillian Ryan (Northboro, Mass.) all earned the accolade in their first eligible season. Genovese, a goalkeeper, is a communications major, while Madrak and Ryan, both attacks, are both undeclared.
To be eligible for the MAAC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must complete two semesters at their institution, be a significant starter or reserve and hold a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.20 on a 4.0 scale.
