Rowing Coach David Patterson Completes Ergathon Fundraiser With 100,000 Meter Run

Mar 27, 2008

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Head Coach David Patterson completed a 100,000-meter ergathon as a fundraiser for the men's and women's rowing programs. So far, the event raised $13,000 dollars for the men's program and $4,000 for the women's program. The distance equates to just over 62 miles.

"The first 50,000 meters were easy," Patterson said after the event. "The next 10,000 meters were the most miserable and painful experience in recent memory. The final 40,000 meters were physically okay, but mentally challenging. It took me nine hours and 11 minutes to complete the event."

Patterson had company during the event as well, as men's rowing team senior captain Dave Brems also accepted the erathon challenge.

"He completed the task 45 minutes faster than me," Patterson said. "And, he was just doing it 'for a laugh'."
