Tiffany Weimer Named Women's Soccer Assistant Coach

Aug 14, 2007

Fairfield University Head Women’s soccer coach Jim O’Brien today announced the hiring of Tiffany Weimer as an assistant coach.  Weimer will assist in the day-to-day operations of the program, working with the Stags goalkeepers and assisting in opponent scouting.

“Tiffany has been a known name in the Connecticut soccer scene since she was seven years old,” said O’Brien.  “Her tireless work ethic has helped her become one of the most feared attacking players in NCAA history.  Her dedication, skill and love for the game will provide great benefit to our student-athletes.”

Weimer, a native of North Haven, Conn., attended Penn State University where she led her squad to a pair of NCAA Final Fours and four Big Ten Conference championships.  She was a two-time runner-up for the Hermann Trophy, awarded annually to the top female soccer player in the nation.

Over the course of her collegiate career she tallied 214 points, among the top-20 all-time in Division I play.  She netted 91 goals, which ranks her seventh in the Division I record books.  Weimer holds the NCAA record for goals in consecutive games, touching net 17 in 17 straight contests.

A member of the United States U-21 National Team since 2003, Weimer was invited to the US National Team camp this past fall.  There she competes for a spot on upcoming World Cup and Olympic Team rosters.

The Stags open the 2007 campaign at the DU Classic, Aug. 31 and Sept. 2 in Denver, Colo., taking on Air Force and either host Denver or Colorado.  The Stags play at Seton Hall on Sept. 5, before opening the home portion of their schedule, Sept. 7 versus Colgate at 7 p.m.
