Cavallaro Tabbed As MAAC Rookie Of The Week
Sep 10, 2007
– Fairfield University women’s soccer player Nicole
Cavallaro (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) was named the Metro Atlantic
Athletic Conference (MAAC) Rookie of the Week, announced today by
the league office. It marks Cavallaro’s first career
weekly honor, and the second in as many weeks for the Stags.
A graduate of New Hyde Park Memorial High School, Cavallaro played
a role in all three of the Stags tallies in a 3-0 win over
Colgate. She fed a pass across the top of the 18-meter box
that teammate Chrissie Sidie knocked home, with what proved to be
the game winner. Cavallaro started the Stags next scoring
chance in the 87th minute, taking a pass from Kelly Steele and
feeding it to Casey Frobey for the score.
The Stags forward recorded her first collegiate goal at
88:52. Ahna Johnson fed her a pass on the right side of the
box. Cavallaro’s shot went to the opposite post, past
the keeper, for the tally.
Cavallaro is tied for the team lead, and third in the MAAC, with
four points. Her two assists also has her tied for the team
lead, and tied for second in the league.
The Stags return to action this weekend at the UConn Classic in
Storrs, Conn. Cavallaro leads the team against Central
Connecticut State on Friday at 5 p.m. and the host Huskies on
Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
