
CCSU Defeats Stags 1-0 At UConn Classic

The Fairfield University women's soccer team fell 1-0 to Central Connecticut State University this evening in the first game of the UConn Classic. With the loss, Fairfield falls to 2-2-1 overall, while the Blue Devils improve to 2-3-0 on the year.
The Stags out shot the Blue Devils by a 17-8 margin on the day. Of those shots, the Stags put eight on net, while CCSU put just three on net.
The goal came in the first half as Rachel Caneen netted a ball from the top of the 18. Assists were credited to Clio Tregear and Caitlin Newkirk.
Brett Maron made two saves in net for Fairfield. Her counterpart Erin Herd stopped eight shots in posting the shutout.
Fairfield dominated the game in corner kicks as well, totaling eight, to the Blue Devils two. The Stags earned five second half corner kicks. Fairfield committed more fouls, 13-7 in the game.
Casey Frobey and Chrissie Sidie both took three shots, putting two of them on net. Both of Nicole Cavallaro's shots were on net as well, while Adrienne Boyer took three shots, with one being on goal
