BOSTON - The Fairfield University women's soccer team, playing its second nationally ranked opponent in four days, fell short this evening, 2-0 at the hands of ninth-ranked Boston College.  The Stags, who have played three top-25 teams this season, fall to 2-4-1, while the Eagles improve to 6-0-1.

The Eagles controlled play throughout the contest, out shooting the Stags 23-0 in the contest.  BC put 12 shots on goal in the first half, including what proved to be the game-winner just 13:15 into the game, on a Kelly Henderson goal.  The Eagles, who had 11 second half shots, scored an insurance goal at 57:56, when Caitlin Hiller netted a goal.

Fairfield keeper Brett Maron had a strong game, facing the 15 shots on goal, and finishing with 13 saves.  It was her second highest single-game total, having tied a school record with 14 saves against Colorado earlier this season.

BC had six corner kicks, to the Stags none, and the Eagles were called offsides once.  There was only nine fouls called in the game, five on BC and four on Fairfield.

The Stags return to action on Sunday, when they return home to host Providence College.  That game is set for 1 p.m. and will be played on Lessing Field.
