Breitenwischer Has Goal And Two Assists In 6-0 Win Over Wagner

Fairfield, Conn. – The Fairfield University women’s soccer team earned its second straight win, defeating visiting Wagner College, 6-0, in non-conference action this evening on Lessing Field.  The Stags improve to 4-4-1 on the year, while the Seahawks fall to 1-6-1.

Six different Stags tallied goals on the night, including Janna Breitenwischer (Stow, Mass.), who also tallied a pair of assists.  Newcomer Nicole Cavallaro (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) added two assists in the win as well.

Alex Caram (Lexington, Mass.) struck first for the Stags, corralling a loose ball at the top of the box and driving it home at 25:28.  Less than three minutes later Casey Frobey (Sandy Hook, Conn.) netted a goal, with assists from Breitenwischer and Cavallaro.  Ahna Johnson (Hamden, Conn.) gave the Stags a third goal, taking a pass from the sideline from Cavallaro, and knocking it past the Wagner keeper, at 42:13.

The Stags netted three more goals in thee second half.  Breitenwischer touched net at 62:08.  She picked up a rebound off a Chrissie Sidie (Berkeley Heights, N.J.) shot, and put it home.  Stephanie Ambrose (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) scored her first collegiate goal at 78:59.  Breitenwischer fed a ball to her at the top of the box, and she chipped it to the opposite corner for the goal.  Amanda Vargo (Orange, Conn.) wrapped up the scoring at 87:35, as she drilled a ball to the near post and beat the keeper low.

Brett Maron (Billerica, Mass.) recorded her fourth shutout of the season, recording one save.  Sam Schueschner made eight saves, and allowed four goals, in her 72:07 in the crease for Wagner.  Leslie Reed finished the final 17:53 for the Seahawks, allowing two goals and making two saves.

Fairfield out shot Wagner 23-2 for the game, while earning nine corner kicks, to the Seahawks three.  Fairfield committed 10 fouls and Wagner just eight for the game.

The Stags are now 3-0 at home this season, and have yet to allow a goal in 180 minutes at Lessing Field. 

In three games at home against Wagner, all-time, the Stags have out scored their opponent 26-0 

The Stags begin a three-game road trip on Tuesday, Oct. 2 at Harvard at 7 p.m.
