
Harvard Steals 1-0 Win From Women's Soccer

The Fairfield University women’s soccer team began a
three-game road swing this afternoon with a 1-0 loss at the hands
of host result Harvard University. The defeat drops the Stags
to 4-5-1 on the year, while the Crimson improve to 6-3-1.
The teams played a scoreless first half, before the Crimson struck
early in the second period. Kerry Kartsonis took a pass
from Nicole Rhodes, dribbled around a defender and shot from the
top left corner of the box, putting into the top right corner of
the net.
Harvard out shot the Stags 19-9 on the day, including 10-2 in the
second half. The first half was a more even affair, with the
Crimson out shooting the Stags only 9-7.

Caram took five of the Stags nine shots on the
afternoon, putting three on the net. Janna
Breitenwischer had the Stags other shot on goal in the
contest.
Brett
Maron made six saves in the game, while her
counterpart for Harvard, Lauren Mann, made four saves.
Fairfield committed twice as many fouls, 10-5, while Harvard had an
advantage in corner kicks, 9-2.
The Stags begin Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play with
a pair of road games in Western New York this weekend.
Fairfield will play at Canisius at 7 p.m. on Friday night, before
taking on Niagara on Sunday at noon.
