Frobey, Cavallaro Honored With MAAC Weekly Honors
Nov 5, 2007
The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) named Casey
Frobey (Sandy Hook, Conn.) the women’s soccer
offensive player of the week, while Nicole
Cavallaro (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) was named the rookie
of the week. It marks the third offensive honor of the
year for the Stags, the first for Frobey, and it is the fourth
honor of the season, second rookie accolade, for Cavallaro.
Frobey led the Stags with nine points during the final three games
of the season, scoring three goals and dishing out three
assists. She had five points, two goals, including the game
winner, and an assist, in the win over Saint Peter’s.
She than assisted on a goal in the Stags tie with Loyola and added
a goal and an assist, for three points, in the win over Rider.
Cavallaro finished the week with six points, and again wrote her
name into the record book. In the regular season finale,
Cavallaro tied her single-game record, dishing out four assists, in
the 5-1 victory over Rider. Those assists gave her 16 for the
year, which is the school single-season record. Her goal came
in the Stags win at Saint Peter’s.
The duo lead the team in scoring, with Cavallaro entering MAAC
Tournament play with 30 points, and Frobey with 26. Cavallaro
is tops in the league in points and assists, while Frobey is first
in goals and third in total points.
Fairfield finished the regular season at 11-6-3 overall and in
second place in the MAAC with a 6-1-2 record. The Stags will
take on Loyola in the first semifinal game on Friday, at 4 p.m. in
Poughkeepsie, N.Y. at Marist College.
