Caram Named NSCAA All-Northeast Second Team
Dec 18, 2007
Fairfield University senior women’s soccer player Alex
Caram (Lexington, Mass.) was named Second Team
All-Northeast Region by the NSCAA, announced this week. Caram
is just the second player in program history to earn Second Team
accolades, joining Abby Allan (1997, ’98) with the honor.
“Alex’ selection is a testament to what she has meant
to our program,” said third-year head coach Jim
O’Brien. “I am honored that my peers recognize
how important she has been to our program this year and
beyond.”
Caram, a graduate of Lexington High School, came to Fairfield for
the 2005 season and made an immediate impact, earning MAAC
Tournament MVP honors as the Stags captured the crown and advanced
to the NCAA Tournament. As a junior and senior she was named
First Team All-MAAC.
She has left her name in the Fairfield record book as well.
She graduates among the programs all-time leaders in assists, with
15, as well as among the top-15 in points, 59, and goals, 17.
She started each of the Stags 61 games over the course of the three
seasons, helping the program to a 30-21-10 record.
Caram’s impact on the Stags program was not limited to the
playing field according to O’Brien.
“I personally appreciate her making the transition from NC
State to Fairfield,” he said. “Alex believed early on
that she could make a difference here at Fairfield. The
program would not be on the solid footing it is with out her.
Alex' influence on her teammates and her commitment to both
academic and athletic excellence is what she is all about. The
description of student athlete fits Alex perfectly.”
Fairfield posted an 11-7-3 overall record in 2007, finishing league
play in second place with a 6-1-2 mark. For the third
straight year the Stags qualified for the MAAC Tournament, playing
at least in the semifinal each time.
