Fairfield University senior women’s soccer player Alex Caram (Lexington, Mass.) has been named to the National Soccer Coaches of America Association (NSCAA)/adidas Scholar All-America East Region First Team.  Also recognized by the NSCAA was juniorAhna Johnson (Hamden, Conn.) who was selected as an East Region Honorable Mention.

“This is an award that is presented to the true student-athlete,” said Stags head coach Jim O’Brien.  “Alex and Ahna have excelled on and off the field for our program the past three seasons and epitomize what Fairfield athletics is all about.”

Caram is an English major who is on course to graduate in May 2008.  She has twice been named to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) All-Academic Team.  She is also a two-time All-MAAC First Team selection and was named NSCAA All-Northeast Second Team in December.

A graduate of Lexington High School, Caram has left her name in the Fairfield record book as well.  She graduates among the programs all-time leaders in assists with 15, as well as among the top-15 in points (59) and goals (17).  She started each of the Stags’ 61 games over the course of the three seasons, helping the program to a 30-21-10 record.

Johnson, a double major in business and physics, has also been a member of the Stags program for the past three seasons.  A graduate of Hamden High School, she has been named to the All-MAAC First Team each of the last two seasons, after being named to the MAAC All-Rookie Team in 2005.  During the course of her career she has totaled 37 points, with 14 goals and nine assists.

Fairfield posted an 11-7-3 overall record in 2007, finishing league play in second place with a 6-1-2 mark.  For the third straight year the Stags qualified for the MAAC Tournament, playing in the semifinal each time.
