
O'Brien Announces 11 Members Of Women's Soccer Recruiting Class

Fairfield University head women’s soccer coach Jim
O’Brien this afternoon announced the program’s
11-strong 2008 recruiting class. Spenser Allaway (Halifax, Nova
Scotia), Kelly Boudreau (Farmington, Conn.), Jasmin Corniel
(Yonkers, N.Y.), Alyssa Decker (Old Saybrook, Conn.), Kaitlin Denis
(Barrington, Ill.), Georgina Kemp (New Canaan, Conn.), Brooke
Kravetz (Kennebunkport, Maine), Kelly McCabe (Chatham, N.J.),
Brianna Miller (Skillman, N.J.), Brittany Putnam (Sarasota, Fla.)
and Jaclyn Taylor (Suger Land, Texas) will begin playing for the
Stags in the fall as members of the Class of 2012.
“We have brought in a very talented group of players,”
said the Stags head coach, who is preparing for his fourth season
at the helm. “These young ladies will make an immediate
impact on our program and will aid in our continued
resurgence.”
Allaway is a 5-foot-3 senior at the Williston Northampton School
(MA), who is projected to play up front for the Stags. She
was named a high school All-America by NSCAA this season, after
being named All-State in Massachusetts. Allaway has
experience at several levels, including being a member of the
Canadian National Training Center since the age of 14.
Boudreau, 5-foot-8 goal keeper, is concluding her senior year at
Farmington (CT) High School. She led Farmington to a 2005
state title, and as a member of the Connecticut Football Club
United she captured the 2007 U17 State Cup. Boudreau has
several years of state and regional ODP experience, as well as
playing for the Mass Mutiny of the W-League.
Corniel is a 5-foot-7 forward who is completing her scholastic
career at Gorton (NY) High School. Over the course of her
high school career she earned all-League and all-Section
accolades. Corniel has led her club teams to several national
championship games, and also played at an elite level with the
Region I ODP in 2006, and plays for PDA.
Decker, a 5-foot-10 senior at Mercy (CT) High School, is projected
to play in the back during her career with the Stags. Over
her first three high school seasons she has been an all-conference
selection, and an all-Middletown Press selection, each year.
Decker has been a member of the ODP since being a U12, playing for
the regional team in 2004 and 2007, and helped the Connecticut
Football Club United to the 2007 U17 State Cup title.
Denis is a 5-foot-8, senior defender at Barrington (IL) High
School, and a member of the Sockers F.C. Chicago. A
midfielder and defender for the Sockers, she helped lead the team
to the Illinois State Cup final four three times, and to the Region
II semifinals in 2005.
Kemp is a 6-foot-0 defender who is attending New Canaan (CT) High
School. A defender, she is a member of the Connecticut
Football Cub United U18 squad that captured the 2007 U17 State Cup
title.
Kravetz is a 5-foot-3 midfielder who is completing her high school
career at Kennebunk (ME) High School, where she is a three-time
all-conference selection. She is a member of the Seacoast
United and has played for the Maine ODP Team at the regional and
national level.
McCabe is a 5-foot-7 goalkeeper who is a senior at Oak Knoll (NJ)
School, where she was a first-team All-Conference and third-team
All-County selection last season. She is also a member of the
CWS Red Devils club team.
Miller, is a 5-foot-4 midfielder who is attending Montgomery (NJ)
High School. She is a three-time all-state selection and
helped her scholastic squad to a 2006 state title. She is a
member of PDA, playing in the 2005 national final, and helped the
club win four NJ State Cup Championships and a Region I title.
Putnam, 5-foot-8, is attending the Pine View School for the Gifted
(FL), and will compete for playing time in the Stags defensive
unit. She is also a member of the IMG Academy residential
team in Florida.
Taylor, a 5-foot-5 midfielder, will come to Fairfield from Elkins
(TX) High School and is a member of the Eclipse Soccer Club.
Selected to the varsity squad as a sophomore, she earned
second-team All-District accolades last season.
