Women's Soccer Falls 2-1 Niagara In MAAC Quarterfinal

The third-seeded Fairfield University women's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision to sixth-seeded Niagara University in the quarterfinals of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championship in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.  The Stags end the season at 9-9-3.

Niagara struck twice in a 5:30 span midway through the first-half to take a 2-0 lead.  Chiara Greco scored first at 25:29 and Ashley Mandrino touched net with the eventual game-winner at 30:59.

The Stags got on the board at the 80:38 mark.  Jasmin Corniel fed the ball through two defenders to the foot of Adrienne Boyer, who knocked it home.  The Stags would threaten several times in the final minutes of regulation but could not tally the equalizer.

Kelly Boudreau made four saves in the loss for Fairfield, playing the entire 90 minutes in net.  Ashleigh Bowers made four saves in earning the win.

The Stags were out shot 12-7 in the game and Niagara held a 5-3 advantage in corner kicks in the contest.
