Susan Starr begins her first season as a member of the Fairfield
University women’s soccer coaching staff after a successful
playing career at Yale University. Serving as an assistant
coach, Starr will be primarily responsible for training the goal
keepers, as well as assisting in day-to-day operations of the
program.
In her four seasons with the Bulldogs she played in 52 games,
notching 23 career wins. She posted a career GAA of 0.97,
ranking second in Yale history, as well as having notched 148 saves
and four shutouts. As a senior she led the Ivy League with a
.867 save percentage and was second in GAA at 0.71, picking up nine
wins. The NSCAA and SoccerBuzz.com named Starr Third Team
All-Northeast Region, as well as being selected First Team All-Ivy
League. She earned a degree in political science from
Yale.
Starr is a native of Fairfield, Conn., having been named a two-time
All-America twice at Fairfield High School. As a senior she
was a state finalist for the Wendy’s High School Heisman
Award and was named the Connecticut Post Athlete of the Year as a
junior.
