West Point, N.Y. - The Fairfield University women's soccer team found the scoring touch Friday night, defeating the University of Delaware 4-2 at the BAE Systems Classic in West Point, N.Y. The Stags earn their first win, improving to 1-3-2, while handing the Blue Hens their first loss, 5-1-1.

The Stags played from behind in the first half, giving up a goal just 3:34 into the contest, but would respond quickly. At 6:04 Ahna Johnson found the ball at her feet after it bounced around in front of the box, and she knocked it through the keeper's legs for the tie.

The Stags again found themselves behind, this time 2-1, after an unassisted UD goal at 27:51, but again they responded. The Blue Hens were called for a foul in the box, and MT Church went upper 90 on the ensuing penalty kick, to tie the game 2-2 at the intermission.

Rookie Casey Frobey then provided all the second half offense for both squads. Just 97 seconds into the second haff, Alex Caram fed Frobey in the left side of the box, and Frobey lifted the ball past the charging UD keeper into the right side, for a 3-2 lead, the Stags first of the season.

Frobey would ensure the victory at 59:13 when she intercepted an attempted clearance pass, hurdled the UD keeper, dribbled close, and put the ball into the corner.

Brett Maron picked up her first win of the year in goal, with four saves, two goals allowed, in her 90 minutes. Her UD counterpart, Bonnie Mills, allowed four goals and made four saves, after entering the game with a 0.50 GAA.

The Stags hand Delaware, 8th in the Mid-Atlantic Region in the most recent NSCAA poll, its first loss of the year. Last week, the Blue Hens tied Yale, regionally ranked this week, and nationally ranked during this season already, 1-1.

Fairfield out shot the Blue Hens 15-11, including 9-5 inthe second half. Both teams had four corner kicks, with Fairfield converting one, and Fairfield committed 15 fouls to the Blue Hens 14.

Fairfield returns to action on Sunday, when it takes on Army in the BAE Systems Classic at 1:30 p.m. The Cadets defeated Air Force 2-1 Friday night, so the winner of the contest will capture the tournament crown.
