The Fairfield University women's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision to in-state rival Yale University this afternoon in New Haven, Conn. The loss drops the Stags to 4-4-4 on the year, while the Bulldogs improve to 6-4-1.

The Stags controlled the tempo in the first half of play, and took a 1-0 lead to halftime. However the Bulldogs struck twice in the second period, and dodged several late Stag pushes to earn the win.

Adrienne Boyer started the play for the Stags first half goal, pushing the ball towards the middle of the box. Ahna Johnson faked towards the goal with her right foot, but instead fed the ball past her with her left to Alex Caram, who knocked the ball home.

Brett Maron played the entire goal in net for the Stags, making four saves and allowing the two goals. Susan Starr made two saves for Yale, allowing one goal.

Fairfield was outshot 13-6 for the game, including 7-2 in the second half of play, The Stags committed only seven fouls to the Bulldogs 13. Yale had four corner kicks, the Stags three. Fairfield was also called offsides twice in the game, including once in the final seven minutes of play.

The Stags are off for nearly a week before hosting Holy Cross on October 10 at 7 p.m. on Lessing Field.
