Box Score

The Fairfield University women's soccer team saw its season end in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Tournament semifinal, 2-0 to Niagara University, on Lessing Field. The Stags end the season with a 9-7-4 record, while the Purple Eagles improve to 11-6-1.

Senior Betsy Nyman became the Stags all-time leader in career starts, making her 78th career start. She passed Christen Veach (1993-96) and Julie Stevens (1996-99), who both made 77 career starts. The 78 starts mark each of the games Nyman played as a Stag, missing just one game her entire career.

Niagara struck early in the game, capturing the game-winning goal just 12:48 into the contest. Shay Lawrence knocked a free kick into the box to the head of Emily Montgomery, who sent the ball back to the opposite corner for the goal.

The Purple Eagles struck again at 80:07 as Brittney Bisnott intercepted a pass in the Stags defensive third, and lifted it over Brett Maron's head.

Maron made two savevs in the game, while her Niagara counterpart, Sarah Stephens made six saves. The biggest save for the Purple Eagle freshman keeper was on a penalty kick at 84:05, which she stopped in the far corner on the ground.
