Fairfield University head women's soccer coach Jim O'Brien has announced that Nicole Cavallaro (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Stags beginning in the fall. Cavallaro has garnered national attention, being tabbed a top-150 recruit by SoccerBuzz.com.

"We are excited that others have taken notice of the talent that Nicole has and will bring to our program over the next four seasons," said O'Brien. "She is a talented, athletic forward, who will be a solid addition to our offense."

The 5-foot-1, forward is a senior at New Hyde Park Memorial High School, where she set a school record with 90 goals. She was a NSCAA All-America and All-Region selection in 2006. A three-time All-State selection, she was named First Team as a junior and senior. In 2005 and 2006 she was named the N.Y. Metro Soccer Prime Time player. In the classroom she is a member of the National Honor Society and enrolled in the Talented and Gifted Program.

Cavallaro has been a member of the State Olympic Development Team for five seasons, leading the squad to a 2005 National Championship. Her ODP team also won regional titles in 2005 and 2006. Cavallaro was selected to play for the regional team in 2002 and 2006, and was in the regional pool from 2003-05.

Cavallaro is a member of the Massapequa Rascals United Club team, leading them to a State Championship in 2006, after a semifinalist appearance in 2005. Those two seasons she was also a member of the SYL National Team.
