Fairfield University head women's soccer coach Jim O'Brien has announced that Tawny Duliba (Kintnersville, Pa.) and Kelly Steele (Carlsbad, Calif.) have signed National Letters of Intent to play for the Stags beginning in 2007. The duo joins Nicole Cavallaro (New Hyde Park, N.Y.), a SoccerBuzz.com top-150 recruit, as members of the women's soccer class of 2011.
"I am very excited to have Tawny and Kelly joining the Fairfield women's soccer family," said O'Brien. "Both players bring a wealth of talent and high-level playing experience with them. As I look at this group of newcomers, including Nicole, I am very excited for their four seasons."
Duliba, who attends Palisades High School, is a 5-foot-8 goal keeper. She has been a member of the FC Bucks Lightning for four seasons, and currently plays for coach Kevin Rooney. Duliba was also a member of the ODP in 2005 and 2006, serving as the team's captain.
Steele, a 5-foot-6 defender, is completing her senior year at Carlsbad High School. A four-year varsity letter winner, and has been the team captain since 2005. Steele earned First Team All-Conference accolades in 2005-06, after Second Team All-Conference accolades the previous season.
The Stags finished the 2006 season with a 9-7-4 mark, qualifying for the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) soccer tournament for the second straight season, having won the crown in 2005. The current Fairfield team will host Boston University in a spring scrimmage on Sunday, April 1 at 3:30 p.m.
