Tonight's Match-up ... In a game that was scheduled as the Stags home opener, the Fairfield University women's soccer will host the College of the Holy Cross, in its regular season non-conference finale. The Stags are 4-4-4 on the year, 1-0-2 in the MAAC, while the Crusaders are 2-10-2 overall and 0-2-1 in the Patriot League
A 15th Anniversary Celebration ... The 2006 campaign marks the 15th season of women's soccer as a varsity sport at Fairfield. Prior to Sunday's game with Saint Peter's, the Stags will honor members of the program which have been inducted into the school's hall of fame. At halftime, members of the program who return for the contest, will be recognized.
Fun Frosh ... The Stags rookies have been an integral part of the Stags success. Casey Frobey leads the team with 14 points and six goals, while Chrissie Sidie is the team leader with three assists. Four rookies have played in all 12 games for the Stags.
Frobey Finds the Net ... Rookie Casey Frobey wasted little time in making her name known. In the Stags opener, Frobey netted her first collegiate goal, collecting a rebound from a shot by Ahna Johnson, and knocking it home in the 75th minute.
The Johnson-Caram Connection ... Alex Caram and Ahna Johnson are in the second year as one of the most potent offensive tandems in the league. This year the duo has combined for six goals and four assists, splitting the 16 points down the middle. Caram scored the Stags game winner against Marist, while Johnson has three for her career, all last season.
What Lies Ahead for the Stags ... A busy week for the Stags continues at home, as they return to MAAC play. Fairfield will host Manhattan on Friday night at 7 p.m. and Saint Peter's on Sunday at 1 p.m. The Stags then go on the road to Loyola and Rider, before returning home to close out the regular season October 27 and 29 against Canisius and Niagara.Tonight's Match-up ...
