Fairfield University women's soccer players Brett Maron (Billerica, Mass.) and Casey Frobey (Sandy Hook, Conn.) were named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Co-Defensive and Rookie of the Week, respectively, announced Monday afternoon. It marks the second consecutive week that the duo has been honored by the league. It is also Maron's fourth weekly honor this season, while Frobey earns the rookie award for the third time.

Maron posted a 1-1 record in goal on the week, including her sixth shutout of the season on Sunday against Rider. In 180 minutes of action, she allowed just two goals, for a GAA of 1.00 on the week. The junior made 11 saves, six against Loyola and five against Rider.

Maron leads the MAAC with an impressive 0.96 goals against average, in 1501 minutes of action. Her 71 saves is third best in the league, but her save percentage of .816 is tops in the MAAC.

Frobey continued her torrid scoring pace, netting two goals, including the game-winner, against Rider. It marked the fourth time this season that the freshman has scored multiple goals in a game. She leads the squad with 12 goals, which ranks her third on the Stags single-season goal-scoring list. Her 26 points is also tops on the team, and good for a ninth place tie on the single-season list in program history.

Frobey has turned into one of the top offensive threats in the nation, ranking 21st overall and 4th among rookies, with 0.71 goals per game. She rates third in the MAAC in that category, as she does in goals scored, 12. She is also third in the MAAC with 26 points and 1.53 points per game.

Fairfield is 8-5-4 overall and 4-1-2 in the MAAC through the games of October 22. With 14 points, the Stags are in third place in the league, with home games against Canisius, Friday and Niagara, Sunday, to close out the regular season.
