NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. -- Jenna DiBernardo hit a pair of home runs during the afternoon, but it was not enough for Fairfield to salvage a game as Niagara University swept the Stags by scores of 7-4 and 3-1. The designated player recorded a home run in both ends of the doubleheader, giving her a team-high five homers for the season.

Fairfield held a lead in both games, but late inning rallies proved to be the difference for the Purple Eagles. The Stags jumped out to a 3-0 lead courtesy of DiBernardo's three-run blast in the second inning. Fairfield tacked on an unearned run in the third to make the score 4-0.

Niagara started its' come back with a single run in the third, but did most of the damage in the fourth inning when it plated five runs to take the lead at 6-4. Teresa Healy provided most of the runs with a three-run home run. The Purple Eagles closed out the scoring in the fifth inning, thanks to back-to-back doubles for the team's seventh run.

In the second game, the Stags grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning, as DiBernardo launched a solo shot over the center field fence. That lead held until the bottom of the sixth inning when Niagara hit two home runs in the inning. Healy led off the frame with a solo home run, while Maggie McDonald added a two-run homer to push Niagara in front at 3-1. Fairfield managed a base runner in the seventh inning when Riannon Thomas singled with two out, but the rally ended a ground out to third base.

Fairfield returns to action on Wednesday, April 16 when it travels cross town for a match up with Sacred Heart University.
