FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Sarah Minice earned her second Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Pitcher of the Week award after posting a 4-0 record last week, which included three wins in conference play.

The freshman tossed 15 scoreless innings against Rider University to win both ends of a doubleheader. She allowed four hits in each 1-0 Fairfield win, and struck out nine hitters total in the twinbill. The next day, Minice came back with her 13th win of the season by defeating Manhattan College by a 7-3 score. She allowed two earned runs in five innings before giving way to the bullpen. Earlier in the week, Minice earned a 5-2 victory against non-conference foe University at Stony Brook.

She enters the final week of the regular season with a 13-7 record and four shutouts. She has a team-best 3.03 ERA in 141 innings of work. Minice has fanned 117 batters, and has twice as many strikeouts than walks (57).

The Fairfield University softball team, under head coach Julie Brzezinski, starts this week's action with a 22-22-1 overall record and a 7-6 MAAC mark. The Stags host Marist College on April 30, a continuation of a suspended game from April 6, and Iona College on May 3. The May 3 doubleheader is Senior Day, as the program will honor five players.
