Sarah Minice Named MAAC Pitcher Of The Week

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Freshman pitcher Sarah Minice earned the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Pitcher of the Week after posting a 3-0 record and allowing just one earned run in 27 innings last week.

During the week, she earned her first career shutout, an 8-0 decision over Yale University. Minice also picked up two wins in MAAC play, allowing no earned runs in a 3-2 win over Siena and one earned run in a 2-1 victory against Marist. She pitched seven innings of scoreless relief in the second Marist game which was suspended due to darkness at 5-5 after 12 innings. She struck out 17 hitters and allowed 26 base runners in 27 innings of work. She also batted .250 for the week with a pair of doubles and an RBI in eight at-bats.

The Stags softball team, under head coach Julie Brzezinski, brings a five-game win streak into this week's action. Fairfield owns an 11-16-1 overall record and stands in first place in the MAAC standings.  The team returns to action on Wednesday, April 9 when its hosts Central Connecticut State University. Game time is slated for 3 pm.
