Emily Ling begins her third season with the Fairfield University softball team. She brings a great deal of experience with her, which should help her in her position as pitching coach for the Stags.
Ling comes to the Fairfield campus after graduating from
Lehigh University with a bachelor of arts degree in sociology in
2005. On the field, the pitcher served her teammates as captain for
the 2005 campaign. She led the team with a 20-6 record and a 1.59
ERA, posting five shutouts, two saves, and 159 strikeouts in 162.2
innings.
For her career, Ling owned a 65-21 record with 610 strikeouts
in 551 innings and a 1.64 ERA. She finished her career as Lehigh's
all-time strikeout leader. She set the school standard for
strikeouts in a season with 162 in her junior campaign.
Ling's list of honors includes three All-Northeast Region
awards, Patriot League pitcher of the year (2003, 2005), Lehigh
University's Female Athlete of the Year (2005, 2002), and Patriot
League Tournament most valuable player last year. She set the
Patriot League record for career wins, strikeouts, and strikeouts
per game.
