Box Score

SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- Julia Jacoby posted two hits in both games of a doubleheader against the University of San Diego, but the Toreros ended up winning both games with 14-4 and 4-3 decisions over the the Stags softball team.

San Diego jumped out to a 1-0 lead with a single run in the bottom of the first inning. The Stags tied the game with a run in the top of the second courtesy of Erin Frank's triple and Dani Griswold's RBI single. The Toreros took control of the game in the bottom half of the inning by scoring six runs. The runs were a result of two two-run doubles and a two-run single, all of which came with two outs.

In the nightcap, Jacoby and Kristie Trifiolis each registered a two hits in the game, as the Stags pounded out eight hits. Fairfield fell behind by surrendering a first-inning run, but tied the score when Cagney Ringnalda lofted an RBI single which sent home Trifiolis. The Toreros regained the lead with a run off a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the second inning.

Fairfield took its first lead of the game in the third frame, as Jacoby and Frank each laced an RBI single for a 3-1 advantage. San Diego tied the score in the bottom of the inning with back-to-back RBI singles. The home team took the lead for good courtesy of Jennifer Ellenbeck's solo homer in the sixth inning.

The Stags will take Thursday off before returning to action against Iona College in the first game of the Aztec Classic, hosted by San Diego State University.
