FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Meghan Borst hit a home run and earned the win with five effective innings in the pitching circle, as the Fairfield University softball team posted a 12-5 come-from-behind victory against St. John's University.

The Red Storm jumped out to an early lead by scoring a run in the second inning, and adding four more runs in the top of the third. Ona Halladay registered the key hit in the inning, a two-run single that gave the team a three-run lead.

Trailing 5-1 heading into the bottom of the fifth inning, the Stags tallied 10 runs in the frame to take control of the game at 11-5. Borst started the rally with a solo home run to lead off the inning. After Kristen D'Alessandro and Julia Jacoby singled, Kristie Trifiolis followed with an RBI single. Riannon Thomas' grounder was mishandled that allowed D'Alessandro to score and sent Jacoby to third. Cagney Ringnalda laced a a two-run double to make the score 6-5 in Fairfield's favor. A few batters later, Jacoby sliced a three-run double to right-center field that put the cap on the inning.

Fairfield tacked on a run in the bottom of the sixth inning when Borst stroked an RBI single to center field, scoring Frank who doubled to start the inning.

Ringnalda started the game, but left the game in the third inning. Borst came in and tossed the final five innings to earn her fourth win of the season. The freshman allowed just two hits, fanning four batters and not walking any hitters.
