NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. -- Cagney Ringnalda gave Fairfield the perfect start to its four-game road trip in upstate New York, as the junior tossed a no-hitter in the first game of a doubleheader against Niagara University. The Stags completed the sweep with a 7-3 win over the Purple Eagles in the second game, which improved Fairfield's conference record to 7-3.

The righthander walked three and struck out two hitters in picking up the win. She also added a pair of hits to the team's cause in a 1-0 victory. The Stags scored the game's only run when Breanne Morschauser reached base on a fielding error. Lisa Meringer entered the game as a pinch runner, and came home following Julia Jacoby's third double of the game. Shannon Logan also had a pair of hits to help out her teammates.

The Stags used a three-run first inning to take control of the second game. Erin Frank provided Fairfield with the key hit in the inning, a two-run single that pushed the score to 3-0. Niagara cut into that lead with a pair of runs in the third inning, courtesy of a two-run double.

Fairfield put the game out of reach with another three spot in the fifth frame, as Tara Hansen sent home the first run with an infield single to the left side. Frank and Logan each sent home a run with a fielder's choice in the inning, making the score 6-2. The Stags scored their final run of the game in the seventh inning, as Hansen and Frank started the inning with back-to-back doubles.

Fairfield remains in Buffalo for a doubleheader against Canisius College on Sunday afternoon.
