FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Junior Julia Jacoby (San Diego, Calif.) earned the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Softball Player of the Week award after batting .556 last week during the Stags' eight-game trip to Southern California. Jacoby recorded 15 hits, which included four extra base hits.
The outfielder posted a hit in all eight games last week, which included five straight multiple-hit games. She stroked a season-high three hits against both Iona and Fordham, and drove home four of the team's five runs against Fordham. Jacoby also posted an impressive .815 slugging percentage. In the field, Jacoby played flawlessly by cleaning handling all 12 of her chances.
For the season, Jacoby leads the team with a .450 batting average, while her five extra base hits (two doubles, three triples) also represent a team-high. She has yet to strikeout this season despite posting 43 plate appearances. Last season, Jacoby fanned just seven times in 202 at-bats, which placed third in the NCAA Division I final statistics.
The Stags softball team, under head coach Julie Brzezinski, owns a 3-10 overall record which includes a 2-6 mark during last week's California trip.
