FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Sophomore Erin Frank (Scottsdale, Ariz.) earned a berth to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Region team. She earned the honor as a utility player, after posting record-setting numbers during the 2006 campaign.

Frank surpassed her own school record for home runs in a season with 10 homers this season, one more than her total from a year ago. She ranks among the top five hitters in the MAAC with a .394 batting average. The third baseman/catcher led the team with 45 RBI and a .697 slugging percentage. Her 45 RBI also broke her own record of 41 set in 2005.

The NFCA award goes along with her All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) first team designation, which she received a week ago.

The Fairfield University softball team, under head coach Julie Brzezinski, finished the 2006 campaign with a 32-27-1 overall record. The Stags advanced to the championship round of the MAAC tournament, after finishing fourth in the regular-season standings.
