WEST POINT, N.Y. - The women's tennis team continued action at the Wilson/ITA Eastern Intercollegiate Championships held at Army on Saturday afternoon turning in some solid performances.
Playing in the quarterfinals of Second Singles bracket, sophomore Dana Postupack (Kingston, N.Y.) met up with a familiar face in Marist's Erin Godly. Postupack was unable to advance, falling 6-4, 6-4.
Four Stags competed in the various back draws that were taking place.
Junior Gabriela Davila (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) and senior Courtney Price (Meriden, Conn.) both advanced to the semifinals to the Battle at Buckner - Beta.
Davila fell to Bucknell's Camille Simonetti by default in the semifinals. In the quarterfinals, Davila defeated Colgate's Ryan Dewey, 8-4. Davila opened the day with a 8-0 win over Siena's Bridget Finnerty.
For Price, she fell to Darcy Demers of Sacred Heart by default. In the quarterfinals, Price won by default over Lauren Mackay of UMass. Price opened the day with a 9-7 victory over Avery Gibson of Providence.
In the Survival Saturday - Beta draw, freshman Alyssa Ruiz (Glen Head, N.Y.) fell to Loyola's Joy Johnson, 8-4, in the round of 16 while sophomore Michael Cerrone (N. Scituate, R.I.) lost to Stony Brook's Erica Federgreen, 8-2.
More than 30 schools are represented at this year's tournament. Since 1999, Army has served as the host for the event, which has grown into one of the largest collegiate women's tennis tournaments in the Northeast.
