Women's Tennis Tabbed Third in MAAC Coaches' Poll
Feb 8, 2008
FAIRFIELD, Conn. - The Fairfield University women's tennis team was picked to finish third in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC), according to a vote by the league's coaches.
The Stags are off to a 1-1 start in their spring campaign after a victory against Hartford and a loss to Albany. Fairfield returned all but one student-athlete from last year's roster and added freshman Alyssa Ruiz. The Stags, who battled injury throughout the year, finished the 2007 campaign with a 9-12-1 record and tied for fifth place at the MAAC Championships.
Marist, the defending MAAC Champions, was voted as the league favorite with 63 points followed by Niagara who received 48 points.
Fairfield will host Sacred Heart on February 8 at the Stamford Indoor Tennis Club. The match is slated to begin at 7:30pm.
