Paulina Rys Named MAAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week

FAIRFIELD, Conn.  - The Fairfield University sophomore Paulina Rys (Forest Hills, N.Y./Kew Forest School) was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Women's Tennis Player of the Week.

Rys served up her first win of Spring Break with an impressive 6-2, 7-6(1) victory against Florida Gulf Coast's Lauren Pfeiffer, to win her second straight match. In doubles, Rys and partner Dana Postupack, were edged, 8-4, against the Eagles.

Overall, Rys is 5-10 in singles play. Her five wins tie her for second most on the team. Rys has played No. 1 doubles all season with Postupack and the duo has forged an 8-9 record.

During her freshman campaign, Rys went 16-15 at No. 1 singles for the team lead in victories. She was also 17-10 in doubles action, which included a 14-5 mark with Postupack.

Fairfield returns to action on March 18 as it opens Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play hosting Saint Peter's at 2 p.m. at the Walsh Athletic Center Tennis Courts.
