Women's Tennis Falls to Marist 5-1

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Fairfield women's tennis team fell to Marist, 5-1, this evening in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) action. With the loss, the Stags fall to 3-7 overall and 1-1 in the MAAC while the Red Foxes improve to 3-7 overall and 2-0 in the conference.

Senior Courtney Price picked up the Stags' win at No. 6 singles with a 7-5, 6-1 decision over Emily Zampello.

At No. 1 singles, Dana Postupack dropped a three-set match to Christine Ong, 1-6, 6-4, 2-6. At No. 2 singles, Paulina Rys was edged by Erin Godly, 7-5, 7-5. At the third spot, Cassie Strange beat out Alyssa Ruiz, 6-4, 6-2.

At No. 4 singles, Alexa Strange defeated Michaela Cerrone, 6-4, 6-1. At No. 5 singles, Lauren Bonanno had her winning streak snapped as Mirelva Colon earned the 7-5, 6-1 victory.

Due to weather conditions, doubles were not played.

Fairfield returns to action tomorrow, April 3, when it hosts Rhode Island at 3pm at the Walsh Athletic Center Tennis Courts.
