Women's Tennis Falls to Colgate 6-1

HAMILTON, N.Y. - The Fairfield University women's tennis team was topped by Colgate University, 6-1, this afternoon. The Raiders (9-6) earned the doubles point, winning two of the three matches, and took five out of six singles matches from the Stags (3-10). 

The Stags lone point came at No. 1 singles as Dana Postupack (Kingston, N.Y.) defeated Elise DeRose, 6-4, 6-0.

Fairfield posted another win at No. 3 doubles as Price and Marisa Voloshin (Woodbridge, Conn.) defeated Isabel Riemer and Erin Fenn, 8-6. 

At No. 2 singles, Alyssa Ruiz (Glen Head, N.Y.) fell to Samantha Inacker, 6-1, 6-3. At No. 3 singles, Michaela Cerrone (N. Scituate, R.I.) was topped by Reimer, 6-3, 6-3. At No. 4 singles, Cameron Williams stopped Lauren Bonanno (Bradenton, Fla.), 6-2, 7-6(5). 

Senior Courtney Price (Meriden, Conn.) fell to Fenn, 6-4, 6-0. at No. 5 singles while Stephanie Bender defeated Gretchen Amberg (Manasquan, N.J.), 6-2, 6-1, at No. 6 singles. 

In doubles play, Postupack and Amberg fell, 8-1, to DeRose and Inacker at No. 1 doubles. Colgate's second doubles pair of Bender and Williams sealed the point with an 8-2 win over Ruiz and Cerrone.

Fairfield will travel to Quinnipiac on April 8 for a 3 p.m. match.
