
Women's Tennis Falls To Stony Brook 7-0

STAMFORD, Conn. - The Fairfield University women's tennis team fell to Stony Brook on Saturday night at Stamford Indoor. The Seawolves (1-1) took all seven matches from the Stags (1-1).
At first singles, senior Dana Postupack (Kingston, N.Y.) fell to Paola Rodolfi, 6-1, 6-0. At second singles, senior Paulina Rys (Forest Hills, N.Y.) was edged by Prerana Appineni, 6-3, 6-2. At third singles, Kristen Liu (Closter, N.J.) fell to Gayatri Krishnan.
Rookie Meghan Sullivan (Tampa, Fla.) could not overtake Aylin Mehter at fourth singles, falling 6-0, 6-1. At fifth singles, junior Alyssa Ruiz (Glen Head, N.Y.) fell to Nini Laqvilara, 6-0, 6-1. At sixth singles, sophomore Tara Brennan (Massapequa, N.Y.) fell to Salome Mkervalidze, 6-2, 6-1.
Stony Brook captured the doubles point as well. At second doubles, Postupack and freshman Nikki Jackson (Hackensack, N.J.) were topped by Pieschl and Krishnan, 8-3. The Seawolves sealed up the doubles point as Mehter and Charliquart defeated seniors Gretchen Amberg (Manasquan, N.J.) and
Michaela Cerrone (North Sciuate, R.I.), 8-4. Rys and Liu were trailing Hanson and Mkervalidze, 7-3, when Stony Brook captured the doubles point.
The Stags are back in action on February 20 when they travel to Delaware.
