Results

ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Fairfield women's tennis team (3-2) ran into a very tough Carthage College (11-2) team this afternoon as the Stags fell 5-2 in their spring break opener.

Senior Alexis Accomando (Lilitz, Pa./The Hill School) had victories in both singles and a doubles action. At No. 4 singles, Accomando edged out Gina Klein, 6-2, 7-6(7-4). She also teamed up with Lauren Bonanno (Bradenton, Fla./St. Stephen's) to defeat Klein and Kristin Minkowski, 8-3, at No. 2 doubles.

Sophomore Gabriela Davila (Guaybano, Puerto Rico) earned the other singles victories for the Stags, downing Beth Kauffman, 6-1, 6-4, at No. 5 singles.

At No. 1 singles, freshman Paulina Rys (Forest Hills, N.Y./The Kew Forest School) fell to Amanda Sta. Romana, 6-2, 6-2. At No. 2 singles Bonanno fell to Elizca Buys, 6-3, 6-1 while freshman Dana Postupack (Kingston, N.Y./John A. Coleman) was edged 6-4, 7-5 by Minkowski at No. 3 singles. At No. 6 singles, freshman Courtney Taylor (Bay Shore, N.Y./St. John the Baptist) was shut out, 6-0, 6-0, by Taylor Gustafson.

Fairfield continues action in Florida this week as the Stags face Bentley College tomorrow.
