ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Fairfield women's tennis team recorded an impressive 6-1 victory against Merrimack College this afternoon. With the victory, the Stags improve to 4-2 on the season while Merrimack drops to 0-6.

At No. 1 singles, freshman Paulina Rys (Forest Hills, N.Y./The Kew Forest School) recorded a 6-4, 6-2 win against Caitlin Dunn while rookie Dana Postupack (Kingston, N.Y./John A. Coleman) won in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0 against Jessica Lamb at No. 2 singles.

Senior Alexis Accomando (Lilitz, Pa./The Hill School) posted her third-straight singles victory of the spring with a 6-0, 6-1 decision over Alison Mincarelli at No. 3 singles.

Sophomore Gabriela Davila (Guaybano, Puerto Rico) notched a 6-1, 6-1 victory against Brittany Holmes at No. 4 signals. At the fifth spot, junior Courtney Price (Meriden, Conn./OH Platt) earned the win after her opponent, Nora Cahill retired.

In doubles action, Rys and Postupack defeated Dunn and Lamb, 8-3, at No. 1 singles while Accomando and Davila blanked Mincarelli and Holmes, 8-0.

Fairfield will face Bentley College this evening at 7:30 p.m. and will wrap-up play in Florida tomorrow, March 13, with a match up against Radford.
