Results

STAMFORD, Conn. -- The Fairfield women's tennis team ran into a tough Fordham University squad on March 22, falling 7-0 at the Stamford Indoor Tennis Courts. With the loss, the Stags slip to 5-4 on the season while the Rams improve to 3-4.

Freshman Paulina Rys (Forest Hills, N.Y.) was defeated by Dominique Liguori, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 1 singles while sophomore Lauren Bonanno (Bradenton, Fla.) fell to Ellenoira Featherston, 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 singles.

At the third spot, senior Alexis Accomando (Lilitz, Pa.) was stopped by Doina Sandor, 6-3, 6-1. Sophomore Gabriela Davila (Guaybano, Puerto Rico) had her four-match winning streak snapped at No. 4 singles falling to Lisa Vulin, 6-1, 6-2.

Junior Courtney Price (Meriden, Conn.) fell to Martina Featherston, 6-3, 6-1, at No. 5 singles while freshman Courtney Taylor (Bay Shore, N.Y.) fell to Elizabeth Stall, 6-1, 6-0.

In doubles competition, Rys and Accomando fell to Liguori and Ellenoira Featherston, 8-2 at the top spot while Davila and Bonanno lost to Sandor and Martina Featherston, 8-1. At No. 3 doubles, Taylor and Price were edged by Vulin and Stall, 8-4.

Fairfield has two matches this weekend as the Stags head to Hofstra on March 24 and open MAAC play at Saint Peter's on March 25.
