Results

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- The Fairfield University women's tennis team fell to undefeated conference rival Siena College, 6-1, this afternoon on Senior Day. It was the second match in a row in which the Stags (7-7, 1-2 MAAC) have fallen to an undefeated Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) opponent.

The Saints (7-6, 4-0 MAAC) opened the day by winning the doubles point. At No. 1 doubles, freshman Paulina Rys (Forest Hills, N.Y.) and sophomore Gabriela Davila (Guaybano, Puerto Rico) fell to Sarah Meyer and Karina Davis, 8-3. At No. 2 doubles, senior Alexis Accomando (Lilitz, Pa.) and sophomore Lauren Bonanno (Bradenton, Fla.) were defeated 8-1 by Taylor Barvoets and Sugam Langer.

The Stags' lone doubles victory came at the third spot as junior Courtney Price (Meriden, Conn.) and freshman Gretchen Amberg (Manasquan, N.J.) teamed up to defeat Julia Lebedev and Molly Scullin, 8-3.

Price picked up the Stags' singles victory in a marathon match at the No. 6 spot. Price defeated Scullin, 6-7(4), 6-1, 10-4.

At No. 1 singles, Rys fell to Mayer, 6-2, 6-3 while Bonanno fell to Barvoets, 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2 singles. At the third spot, Davis defeated Accomando, 6-0, 6-3, while Davil fell to Lebedev, 7-5, 7-3 at No. 4 singles. At No. 5 singles, Amberg was edged by Langer, 6-4, 6-3.

Fairfield continues its homestand this week, hosting Manhattan on April 4 at 3 p.m.
