FAIRFIELD, Conn. - The Fairfield University tennis team, fell to Fordham University, 7-0 on Sunday afternoon at the Fairfield University Tennis Courts. The loss drops the Stags to 7-8 overall.
Lauren Bonanno and Christina Chacharone picked up an 8-6 win in No. 2 doubles over Christina Papa and Lisa Vulin.
Fordham took the other two doubles matches to take the point, and swept the singles to win 7-0.
Despite getting swept, Bonanno had a solid showing at No. 1 singles, as she came back from dropping the fist set 6-0, to get edged 7-6 (2) in the second. Ellenoira Featherston defeated Megan Stauffer, 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 singles.
Papa defeated Alexis Accomando, 6-3, 6-4 at No. 3 singles, and Tiffany Marsocci was upended by Doina Sandor, 6-1, 6-3.
Vulin beat Chacharone, 6-3, 6-2 at No. 5 singles, and Michelle Geller lost to Danielle Spigner, 6-3, 6-2 at No. 6 singles.
The Fairfield women's tennis is back in action on Wednesday, April 5, as it travels to the University of Rhode Island for a 3 p.m. match.
