KINGSTON, R.I. - The Fairfield University women's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to the University of Rhode Island on Wednesday afternoon at the Rhode Island Tennis Courts. Fairfield falls to 7-9 on the season.
The lone win for the Stags came on the doubles side, as Michaela Kehoe and Tiffany Price defeated Haley Loewenthal and Emily Conant, 8-6 at No. 3 doubles.
Alexis Accomando was edged in a close No. 3 singles match to Grace Hedstrom, 1-6, 6-1, 13-11. Courtney Price also came out on the short end of a tough match at No. 6 singles to Emily Conant. Conant won, 6-2, 6-7 (4), 10-7.
Lauren Bonanno lost her No. 1 singles match, 6-2, 6-0, Megan Stauffer fell, 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2 singles, Tiffany Marsocci dropped her No. 4 singles match, 6-1, 6-0, and Christina Chacharone lost 6-2, 6-2 at No. 5 singles.
Fairfield will return to Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) action this weekend, as it hosts Loyola on Saturday and Rider on Sunday. Both matches will be played at the Fairfield University Tennis Courts.
