Results

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- The Fairfield University women's tennis team lost its sixth straight match this afternoon falling to Marist College, 6-1. The Red Foxes move to 5-0 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) and 8-1 overall while the Stags fall to 7-10 overall and 1-4 in the league.

Sophomore Gabriela Davila (Guaybano, Puerto Rico) picked up the Stags' lone point with a 6-0, 6-3 win against Alexa Strange at No. 5 singles.

At No. 1 singles, freshman Paulina Rys (Forest Hills, N.Y.) fell to Christine Ong, 6-1, 6-1. At No. 2 singles, Cassie Strange won by retirement over sophomore Lauren Bonanno (Bradenton, Fla.). Erin Godley also won by retirement over Dana Postupack (Kingston, N.Y.) at No. 3 singles.

Megan Burgess defeated senior Alexis Accomando (Lilitz, Pa.), 6-4, 6-2 at No. 4 singles. At the sixth spot, as junior Courtney Price (Meriden, Conn.) was edged by Mirleva Colon, 6-3, 6-0.

In doubles competition, Marist took the doubles point taking two out of three matches. At No. 3 doubles, Bonanno and Michaela Cerrone (N. Scituate, R.I.) earned the win by defeating Colon and Emily Zampello, 8-5.

Fairfield will travel to Rider on April 13.
