DARTMOUTH, N.H. - In the first singles match of her first ITA Northeast Regional Championship, freshman Paulina Rys (Forest Hills, N.Y.) notched an exciting victory on Oct. 22. Rys' victory marks the first ITA win by a Stag in seven years.
Rys defeated Lehigh's Gwendolyn Dwyer by a score of 6-4, 6-1 to advance. In the ensuing round, Rys fell to tenth-seeded Eleanor Peters from the University of Maryland by a score of 6-1, 6-0.
In doubles action, Rys paired with sophomore Marisa Voloshin (Woodbridge, Conn.) as duo dropped a hard-fought opening round match to Amanda Hall and Christina Suarez, of SUNY Albany, 8-5.
Fairfield has concluded the fall season and will resume play on Feb. 3, 2007 when it travels to Hartford.
