FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Fairfield University Head Coach Ed Paige announced that Cathy Lozier will become the new assistant coach of the women's tennis team.
As a tennis player, Lozier is regionally ranked and has won numerous club championships in both singles and mixed doubles at area clubs and in USTA competition. For the past six years, Lozier has also served as a certified American Platform Tennis Association (APTA) instructor, teaching paddle tennis locally. She, too, is the Paddle Tennis Chairperson and a Tennis Committee member at the Fairfield County Hunt Club.
"I am so glad to have Cathy on board coaching the women's team," said Paige. "Not only is she a great player, but an excellent coach and role model. Fairfield University is quite fortunate to have her."
Lozier, a 1978 graduate of Cornell, played tennis for the Big Red, attaining 5.0 singles and 3.0 doubles status.
She resides in Fairfield with her husband Peter and four children, and is currently pursuing a master's degree in taxation from Fairfield's Dolan School of Business.
The women's tennis team resumes play on February 3 against Hartford.
