
Lee and Oliver Earn MAAC Weekly Honors

EDISON, N.J. - Seniors Kelly Oliver (San Diego, Calif./La Jolla) and Lindsey Lee (Hilo, Hawaii, St. Joseph) were named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively. The duo each posted two double-doubles along with career highs to lift the Stags to a 2-1 week
Oliver had a phenomenal weekend for the Stags, averaging 4.73 kills and 4.18 digs per game along with seven total blocks and was named to the Seton Hall Tournament All-Tournament team. Oliver recorded two double-doubles and notched 20+ kills on two occasions. Against Penn, she recorded 22 kills and 26 digs both of which were career highs. She followed that performance with a 20-kill, 15-dig, three-block performance against Big East foe Seton Hall. For the season, Oliver is averaging 3.78 kills and 3.14 digs per game.
Lee, the 2006 MAAC Offensive Player of the Year, was outstanding, averaging 5.55 digs and 2.91 kills per game along with seven total blocks last week. She also had two double-doubles. Against Penn, Lee tallied a career-high 29 digs and 10 kills along with four total blocks. She was just one dig shy of Fairfield's single-match record. Against Seton Hall, Lee tallied 17 kills along with three total blocks. On the season, Lee is averaging 3.81 digs and 2.32 kills per game. Lee also has continued to make a dent in the Fairfield record books. The outside hitter moved into sole possession of third all-time in kills with 1,269 and digs with 1,398. Joanne Saunders holds the career kills record of 1,799 while Lauren Laramore set the career digs record of 1,612 in 2005.
Fairfield resumes play on September 12 when the Stags open Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play at Saint Peter's. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
