
Stags Host Rider and Loyola This Week

The volleyball team is back in action in Alumni Hall this week hosting MAAC foes Rider and Loyola. The Stags (7-9, 4-1 MAAC) will take on the Broncs on Friday, Sept. 28 at 7 p.m. followed by the Greyhounds on Saturday, Sept. 29 at 2 p.m.
Rider (1-12, 0-4 MAAC) enters Friday's contest still seeking its first conference victory. Rider's offense is led by Katelyn Thompson who is averaging 2.84 kills per contest. Amanda Piccolini is third in the conference in service aces with 0.59 per game while Amy Jeary is fourth in the league in digs per game (4.36). The Stags hold a 10-2 series advantage over the Broncs and have taken the last three meetings.
Loyola (10-7) has been playing well with a 3-1 mark in the MAAC. Middle Karlee Woodward has paced the Loyola attack as she has hit .300 or better in each of the last three weeks. Woodward is hitting .324 for the year, which is third highest in the conference. Libero Brittany Born is third in digs at 4.58 per game while Chrissey Cruz is third in assists, averaging 10.52 per contest. Fairfield is 15-6 overall against Loyola and has been victorious in each of the last five meetings.
Saturday is Camper Reunion Day in which summer campers will return to Fairfield and cheer on the Stags. After the match, campers will have a chance to meet the volleyball team.
