Katie Mann Named MAAC Offensive Player of Week

FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Fairfield University sophomore Katie Mann (Del Mar, Calif./Torrey Pines) was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 1 after a stellar performance which helped extend the Stags' winning streak to five matches.

Mann averaged 5.17 kills and recorded a .596 attack percentage in two matches last week. She recorded 31 kills while committing just three attack errors in 47 total attempts. The middle hitter also tallied six total blocks (1.00/g) and nine digs. She put forth a nearly flawless attack against Loyola on Sept. 29 posting 18 kills behind a career best .720 attack percentage with zero errors in 25 chances. Against Rider, Mann had 13 kills, a .455 attack percentage, and six digs.

In her last five matches, Mann is hitting .523 with 67 kills and just nine errors in 111 total attempts.

Mann has followed up her all-conference rookie campaign with another solid season. She has appeared in all 59 games for the Stags, recording double-digit kills in 13 out of 18 matches and has recorded an attack percentage above .400 eight times this season. Against Penn on Sept. 8, Mann recorded a double-double with 22 kills and 11 total blocks, both career highs. On the season, Mann is hitting .349 good for second in the MAAC, averaging 3.53 kills which is sixth in the conference, and 0.83 blocks per game.

The Stags have won weekly honors for times this season. Senior Kelly Oliver (San Diego, Calif./La Jolla) has taken home both Offensive and Defensive honors while senior Lindsey Lee (Hilo, Hawaii/St. Joseph) has earned Defensive Player of the Week accolades.

Fairfield (9-9, 6-1 MAAC) returns to action on October 6 when it hosts Saint Peter's at Alumni Hall.
