Classmate Jazmin Pa'akaula (Hilo, Hawaii/St. Joseph) did so earlier this season against Penn while Lee accomplished it last season.

Sophomore Katie Mann (Del Mar, Calif./Torrey Pines) registered 19 kills, five digs, and six total blocks while junior Karlie Urbaniak (Canton, Minn./Mabel-Canton) recorded a season-high 11 kills, seven digs, and a career-high six total blocks.

Neither team hit particularly well as Fairfield posted a .163 attack percentage to Loyola's mark of .135. The Stags, however, held an 80-60 advantage in kills while out-blocking the Greyhounds 8-6. Fairfield also went over the century mark in digs for the third time this season with 112. The dig total was also the third-highest single match total in program history.

In game one Fairfield overcame a six-point deficit to tie the game at 18-18 on a kill by Thistle. The two teams exchanged points over the next several possessions but a kill by Loyola's Anastasia Collins sparked a decisive 7-3 run down the stretch for the 30-26 Greyhounds win.

Game two was also a close affair with nine ties and four lead changes. With the frame tied 26-26, the Greyhounds committed a pair of costly errors to give the Stags a two-point lead. After a kill by Loyola's Karlee Woodward, Fairfield took the game, 30-27, on back-to-back kills by Urbaniak.

Fairfield led 15-14 in the third stanza but a kill by Collins sparked a 4-0 spurt which tipped momentum in Loyola's favor. The Stags came back to tie the game 18-18 on a block by Urbaniak and Lauren Wagner (Eagan, Minn./Cretin-Derham). The Greyhounds answered by outscoring Fairfield 10-5 to open up a 28-23 lead. Loyola was able to hold off the Stags attack to take the third game 30-26.

The Stags controlled in the fourth game taking a quick 15-8 lead on a solo block by Mann.  Fairfield was able to maintain at least a six-point lead en route to a 30-23 victory. The Stags led throughout most of the final game until the Greyhounds tied the score 11-11 on a Fairfield attack error. The Stags fought off Loyola to take the 15-12 win.

It was the first five-game match for the Stags since the 2006 MAAC Championship Final last November.

Fairfield will host Hofstra on Oct. 10 at 7 p.m. and will resume conference action on Oct. 12 against Marist at 7 p.m. in Alumni Hall.
